Speaker: Alessandro Pinto, Founder and the President of the Italian 多人群交 Sport Foundation.
听
Alessandro Pinto is one of the historical founding professionals of 鈥渟ocial responsibility in sport.鈥 Before the phrase was even coined, Alessandro was the 鈥減uppeteer鈥 for the first two agreements between the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and four Agencies of the United Nations (1992) and between FIFA and UNICEF (1994); these two agreements signaled the beginning of an era during which sport officially engaged in Social and Humanitarian activities.
听
Alessandro was also the first professional to fulfill the purpose of these agreements by organizing two major international projects: 鈥淥ne Goal for UNICEF鈥 (1994) and 鈥淎tlanta Olympic Aid鈥 (1996). As of today, these projects are still unmatched in total fundraising revenues generated.
听
Alessandro continued his mission in 2000 with the major Italian NGO 鈥淭elethon鈥 on the occasion of the Sydney Olympic Games, ensuring that all the athletes of the Italian Olympic Team would act as Testimonials and launched advocacy messages from 鈥淐asa Italia鈥 in Sydney.
听
These successes were recognized by the United States Federal Government, which granted Alessandro permanent residency in the USA, recognizing him as an 鈥渆xtremely skilled worker鈥 in his field.
听
In 2006, he led the Italian Committee for UNICEF in a record-setting fundraising project in cooperation with the 2006 Turin Olympic Games (today a record for the Committee) and repeated the effort in 2010 during the 2010 South Africa World Cup.
听
In recent years, as Director of the NGO 鈥淪ave then Dream,鈥 he led the organization in similar efforts during the 2014 Brazil World Cup, the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and the 2018 Doha Athletics World Championships.
听
On 6 April 2016, Sport for Development World Day (sponsored by the United Nations General Assembly), in recognition for his career devoted to advancing ethical sport, NASDAQ invited Alessandro to ring the closing bell of the market in a worldwide broadcast.
听
Alessandro has lived and worked in Southeast Asia, the USA, Europe, and the Middle East. He has a deep knowledge of sport for development programs and has implemented several of them in Thailand, Pakistan, Rwanda, Benin, Sudan, South Africa, and Qatar.
听
Since 2019, he has been the Founder and President of the 鈥淚talian 多人群交 Sport Foundation鈥.
听
Alessandro lives between Rome, Tuscany, and New York with his wife Barbara and their son Peter. An excellent tennis player, he collects original comic drawings and miniature statues of superheroes.
